Which part of your plan pays for it
Two parts of an NDIS plan can fund this work, and they do rather different jobs. Both sit within the supports funded by the NDIS.
Under Core Supports, assistance with social, economic and community participation pays for a support worker to be with you while you take part in an activity.
Under Capacity Building, increased social and community participation funds the skill-building that makes taking part easier over time: the confidence, the independence and the practical know-how that eventually mean you need less support rather than more.
Most participants draw on one or both, depending on how their plan has been written and what they are working towards. If you are not sure which applies to you, bring your plan to us and we will go through it with you — our NDIS support resources are a good starting point too.
Community access for young people and school leavers
We support participants from the age of seven, which makes us a genuine option for families looking for community access for a child or teenager rather than an adult. We are a Child Safe organisation recognised by the Office of the Children’s Guardian, and that recognition shapes how we recruit, train and supervise the people who will be alongside your child.
For older participants, community participation often runs alongside a school leaver pathway. Supports such as SLES and DES are focused on employment; community participation builds the confidence, independence and social skills that make those pathways viable in the first place. The two work well together, and we are glad to coordinate around whatever else is already in place.
As a registered provider, Lead Your Life is regulated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. You can read more about us, or contact us to talk through what community access could look like for you.

Jason loves going to respite at Lead Your Life. It gives him a good break. Disapointed that we missed out on respite care from Nov to Jan but it good that it now back on track. It would be good if we could get the extra foour days a year and use more respite as a transition accommodation for future permanent accommodation.
